The L Word

For the past three weeks I have been binge watching The L Word, an early 2000's lifetime series about a tight knit group of lesbian friends in Los Angeles. I originally began watching because after watching Blue is the Warmest Color, one of my favorite french films, Netflix recommended this series for me, and I have become attached. My infatuation began when Shane, played by Katherine Moennig, was introduced. I am completely in love with her character and she almost makes me want to play for the other team. Thats what this show does to you, it manipulates you based on your fascination with the lesbian lifestyle. It makes you curious about lifestyles other than your own. Through heartbreak, death, love, and affairs, I feel like I am practically in The L Word friend group. The group centers around a small number of girls. Bette and Tina, former partners who have a child together (from a doner), Shane, a butch hot tamale who has slept with over 900 girls, Helena, a rich goddess who is very generous with her money, Dana, a former tennis player who dies from cancer in season 2, Kit, the straight sister of Bette, Jenny, a new lesbian, and Alice, an eccentric fashionista who invented "the chart." The chart is a complicated scheme of connections of who has hooked up with who in the lesbian world. Together they are unstoppable, powerful women who crave the pussy! I highly highly recommend this series!

Heres my favorite, Shane
