Boys Don't Cry directed by Kimberly Pierce was one of the most moving and emotion films I have ever seen. Having never seen any of Pierce's other work, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the way she told the true story of Brandon Teena. Brandon was a transgender female who made an interesting group of friends in Indiana who thought Brandon was biologically a male. He falls in love with a girl in the group. When the boys in the group find out that Brandon was in fact born a female, they rape him and then kill him along with one of their friends. I thought the moview as absolutely brilliant. The only thing is that although her acting was fantastic, I dont know if Hilary Swank was best physically fit for the role of Brandon Teena. Her face was way too feminine looking and her teeth were hollywood perfect and that took away from the realness of the movie for me. I highly reccomend watching!!
