Aileen: The Life and Death of Serial Killer
Aileen Wuarnos is America's first serial female serial killer. The film Aileen: The Life and Death of a Serial Killer is a continuation of Nick Broomfield's Aileen Wuarnos: The Selling of a Serial Killer. The film is shot 10 years later, as Aileen receives her death sentence. In this film he focusses on getting the story through Aileen's eyes, revealing the inconsistency in her story and the weight of her mental state. My favorite part of the film was Broomfield's intense involvement in the film. He was never polite for the sake of being polite. He said what was on his mind and called Aileen out when her story was inconsistent. He pushed her and close friends/family to the truth, by any means necessary. I applause his perseverance in getting the cold hard facts and not sugarcoating the story. I want to reveal the truths of the theatre cluster in the documentary I am working on as to not steer incoming freshman in the wrong direction.

Sight of Sound- Peer Gynt: Ase's Death
Young man walking-about to be hit by a car when he shuts his eyes and when he opens them, he is in a beautiful golden field. Thinking a soft gold tint on this scene. As he looks around in his dirty clothes, he sees a flock of beautiful girls dressed in all white in a synchronized dance. They begin to surround him with the dance and begin to take off his dirty clothes from the regular world. They rub their hands all over him and then he begins to dance with them, completely letting go. Close up shots of his body movement during this part. When the music begins to change, they all stop dancing and look towards (mountain/trail.) They gesture towards it and he begins walking because he knows that is the path towards the final step on his journey in seeing the light. He walks/climbs very slowly and when he gets to the end, their is a pristine lake. He steadies himself, then jumps into the water. This is in the soft, high pitched part of the song, he is floating and swimming in the water, essentially reaching enlightenment, when he comes up from the water, he is in his own swimming pool, lets out a small chuckle and smile and then the screen goes black.

The L Word
For the past three weeks I have been binge watching The L Word, an early 2000's lifetime series about a tight knit group of lesbian friends in Los Angeles. I originally began watching because after watching Blue is the Warmest Color, one of my favorite french films, Netflix recommended this series for me, and I have become attached. My infatuation began when Shane, played by Katherine Moennig, was introduced. I am completely in love with her character and she almost makes me want to play for the other team. Thats what this show does to you, it manipulates you based on your fascination with the lesbian lifestyle. It makes you curious about lifestyles other than your own. Through heartbreak, death, love, and affairs, I feel like I am practically in The L Word friend group. The group centers around a small number of girls. Bette and Tina, former partners who have a child together (from a doner), Shane, a butch hot tamale who has slept with over 900 girls, Helena, a rich goddess who is very generous with her money, Dana, a former tennis player who dies from cancer in season 2, Kit, the straight sister of Bette, Jenny, a new lesbian, and Alice, an eccentric fashionista who invented "the chart." The chart is a complicated scheme of connections of who has hooked up with who in the lesbian world. Together they are unstoppable, powerful women who crave the pussy! I highly highly recommend this series!

I watched Sleeper by Woody Allen. This film was different than Allen's other films but still had that same cheesy comedy that Woody Allen is known for. The interesting thing about this film is that it is set in the future, but it contains so much of the silent movie comedy style. Lots of chaos scenes set to music. I really thoroughly enjoyed the film.

Boys Don't Cry directed by Kimberly Pierce was one of the most moving and emotion films I have ever seen. Having never seen any of Pierce's other work, I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the way she told the true story of Brandon Teena. Brandon was a transgender female who made an interesting group of friends in Indiana who thought Brandon was biologically a male. He falls in love with a girl in the group. When the boys in the group find out that Brandon was in fact born a female, they rape him and then kill him along with one of their friends. I thought the moview as absolutely brilliant. The only thing is that although her acting was fantastic, I dont know if Hilary Swank was best physically fit for the role of Brandon Teena. Her face was way too feminine looking and her teeth were hollywood perfect and that took away from the realness of the movie for me. I highly reccomend watching!!
